Alternative Hairstyles 2010

Alternative Hairstyles 2010

Alternative hairstyles are hairstyles that are far from mainstream. They are adventurous, fun, wild, and crazy. They often have a little bit of a punk element to them. Stars that are rather unconventional – such as Pink – often wear alternative hairstyles. They may even start new fads with them. Alternative styles are great for people who want to look their best without looking like everyone else. Anything goes with an alternative hairstyle and you can’t really make a mistake. These styles are for having fun and making a statement.

A good short alternative hairstyle is anything that is adventurous and unusual. Short alternative styles are anywhere from the jawline up and often have exaggerated styling, such as jagged layers or bangs that cover one eye. Look to Pink and Rhianna for good examples of these styles. A short alternative style is a lot easier to style and maintain than a longer one but it will take longer to grow it back out if you decide that you don’t like it after all. Even though alternative styles vary widely, it’s still a good idea not to do your haircut yourself; consult your stylist so that you can make sure your style suits your face and won’t make you look ridiculous.

Medium length alternative hairstyles range from just below the jawline to just below the shoulder. These styles are great for bursts of color since you can do more dramatic layering and have a longer fringe. Medium length hair is a bit more versatile; you can do much more with it than you can with short hair. Again, anything really goes – have fun with asymmetrical shapes, highlights, and just be daring. Medium length hair can be worn up or down; check out Kelly Osborne and Christina Aguilera for some great ideas.

Long hair can be flattering on anyone of any size with any face shape. An alternative long hairstyle can be a great way to look great and truly make your statement. Long hair is the most versatile and there is no limit to the possibilities with long hair. You can add layers, colors, fringes, curls…use your imagination! Christina Aguilera and Lil Kim are great examples to look to for some suggestions of how to do an alternative long hairstyle.
